Increase Your Download Limit

Last reviewed: 19/02/2011

You may have noticed that Internet Explorer only allows you to download up to two files at any one time with others waiting to start. Whilst this is adequate when you are on a dial up connection, if you are lucky enough to be on broadband, you may want to download more than two things at once.
Fortunately, this limit can be changed by modifying the registry which will increase your limit to a maximum of 10 connections.

As this tip requires a registry change, please see the registry disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

To change Internet Explorer to allow up to the maximum of 10 simultaneous connections, make the following change:

Copy and paste the following text in to notepad and save it as download-limit.reg, changing the file type to All Types so that it is saved as a registry file. Then double click on it to install.

After entering, you should see (10) after each new entry.
